Message: In 1998 we removed three acres of Cabernet Sauvignon vines to create a reservoir where we could collect rainwater in order to avoid reliance on well water to irrigate our property. It came at the cost of losing those vines but it was a big step forward in managing our water resources – such as aquifers – responsibly. The first photo shows when we were digging out the pond and the second shows what it looks like today. We’ve taken numerous steps to carefully manage our natural resources and to cultivate our vineyards sustainably. Please visit ShaferVineyards.com for all the details! #throwbackthursday

Message: We're sold out of 2017 Relentless in our online store but if you need some Relentless in your life don't despair! We have a small allocation of 2014 in the store — while it lasts — and on March 15 we'll be releasing our 20th vintage, the 2018 (which Antonio Galloni calls "fabulous!"). Visit the store here for lots of treasures: https://www.shafervineyardsstore.com/wines#store

Message: For #ThrowbackThursday we opened a bottle of 1999 Relentless, which was lovely, complex, floral, and elegant. When the fruit for this wine was crushed we still had pagers, used dial-up to access the Internet, and had late fees at Blockbuster Video. Cheers!

Message: A 98 for our 2019 NOMAD Dr. Crane and a 97 for our 2018 NOMAD Dr. Crane! Thank you Robert Parker Wine Advocate & Lisa Perrotti-Brown for these amazing scores! We are delighted that the 2018 & 2019 vintages are showing so well and we'll continue to step up our game, one vintage at a time.
