Message: This week Cyril and Blakesley Chappellet are honored to chair this year’s @SVWineAuction ! Celebrating 40 years, the Sun Valley Wine Auction brings together vintners and wine lovers alike to raise vital funds for arts and education. Our family has long been supporters of this wonderful foundation and we are proud to continue a tradition started by Molly Chappellet, who played a key role in organizing the inaugural Sun Valley Wine Auction in 1981. Thank you to everyone who has joined us this week and @SunValleyMuseum

Message: On Thursday, July 15th, our Chappellet winery family lost one of our dearest members with the passing of Luanne Wells. Luanne was beloved by all of us who live and work here on Pritchard Hill, most of all by her dear sister, Molly Chappellet, and the generations of the Chappellet family who have called this mountain home. While Luanne rarely took a public role here at the winery (though every guest who came to visit passed her home on the way up), her wisdom, counsel and vision helped to shape Chappellet over the decades through her passionate and committed work on our Board. Though this is a time of sadness, we hope that you will join us in celebrating the joy, love and light Luanne brought to those who knew her by raising a toast in her honor.

Message: First glimpse of veraison on Pritchard Hill! Veraison is an exciting time when the grapes shift from growing to ripening. As the grapes change color they also stop growing in size and instead continue to ripen, darken in color, and become sweeter. Harvest will be just around the corner! Message: 2019 Hideaway Cabernet Sauvignon going into bottle! An explorer at heart, our founder, Donn Chappellet set out in 1967 to find the landmarks drawn on an old 1882 surveyor map, which define the boundaries of Pritchard Hill. Today, that historic map wraps this wine’s label, symbolizing the love of discovery which guides us as we follow in Donn’s footsteps, exploring the range of Cabernet Sauvignon expressions from Pritchard Hill. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in new French oak barrels, this epic wine comes from the rocky slopes of our estate’s secluded Hideaway blocks located at an elevation of 1,425 feet, high on the slopes of Pritchard Hill. This wine is available through allocation each spring, if you’re interested in receiving this wine, request here: https://www.chappellet.com/hideaway-allocation/

Message: If you’ve been to the winery any time recently, you may have noticed this smiling face bustling about the place—he’s our Executive Vice President, Cyrus Hazzard! After growing up in Northern California and counting the likes of San Rafael, Bolinas and Arcata home, Cyrus landed in Napa as Store Manager at Safeway. After being recruited to be General Manager at Dean and Deluca, Cyrus learned and got really excited about the local wines made in Napa Valley—and from there, he was hooked! He eventually moved on to lead the opening team of a high end grocery & wine shop on Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos. On a trip to DC to visit a friend, he met Andrea, his now wife, and fell head over heels. He moved to the area and soon found himself working for Total Wine & More, where he created the Fine Wine-‘Concierge Sales’ program. ⁣  ⁣ At a tasting in DC, Cyrus and Andrea met @pamstarr121860, and became fast friends. Over the following years, they’d visit Napa and spend time with Pam & Norm—with Pam always encouraging Cyrus to move back to Napa to help her run the winery. Eventually, it worked! ⁣  ⁣ We’re thrilled to have @mondovinoca as part of our team. When he’s not at the winery, there’s a strong chance you’ll find Cyrus cooking, gardening, or drinking a nice bottle of wine (including some of the great Crocker & Starr back vintages he’s collected over the years!). Next time you visit us, be sure to say hello! Cheers! 🍷 photo @emmakmorris

Message: When @pamstarr121860 stepped into the classic San Francisco building at One Post in 1997 to meet Charlie Crocker, she thought she’d be back out in no time after a quick conversation about purchasing fruit from Charlie’s Saint Helena property. Three hours (and a great conversation) later, the two had agreed to partner in a winery, and Crocker & Starr was born.⁣ ⁣ One Post is an homage and celebration of that fateful day, and is a small production-bottling of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from heritage clones in block 1. The 2018 is deep purple and concentrated in color, showing notes of sweet cassis, violets, toasted spice, and black forest cake. The palate emulates the aromas alongside nuances of dark plums and dried flowers. The wine has a velvety texture and lifted acidity. It’s gorgeous now after a bit of time decanted, and will age beautifully for the next decade-plus. If you’re interested in purchasing this beauty, give us a call or e-mail . Hope you’re drinking something great tonight!🍷⁣ ⁣ Pc @emmakmorris⁣

Message: I have been patiently waiting and watching these incredible 2020 wines develop and continuously evolve in their French oak barrels for the past ~10 months. This week they are getting racked for the first time off their lees that has helped protect, build and improve the mouthfeel. It’s a slow process but patience is rewarded! These 2020’s are outstanding 🍷 #winemakerslife #viader #viaderwinery #napavalley #frenchoakbarrels #harvest2020

Message: When we leaf our vineyards, we do so by hand and by machine. The leafing machine is like a delicate vacuum—gently sucking the overbearing leaves away from the grapes to ensure plenty of sunlight can penetrate the canopy as our grapes continue to mature.
